Meet our Ambassadors

Dan is an underwater wildlife cameraman, who got into the industry after spending time with great white sharks in South Africa, and learning about shark and predator behaviour. Dan delivered a TED talk in 2019 about great white shark behaviour, and speaks across the UK about his work in the marine environment. His footage is often used in wildlife documentaries, and he also guides shark snorkelling trips in various parts of the world, including Wales!

For as long as I can remember I always had a pining for travel and adventure. I’ve been fortunate enough to experience some of the most beautiful natural places and most wonderful cultures around the world. My goal now is to share the joys of travel with my followers and inspire them to explore and interact with the natural world.

I’m Andrew, an environmental science graduate, forest school leader, nature writer and all-round lover of the great outdoors. I have written features for BBC Wildlife and Coast and write regular countryside columns in Essex Life and The Countryman. My debut book about birds within traditional folk songs is set to take flight in the spring.

My journey to becoming a forest school leader began when I started volunteering at Belfairs Woodland Centre and in schools with the education team. After a few sessions, I knew immediately that this is what I wanted to do. Essex Wildlife Trust opened the door to a career in nature and education, and this ambassadorship is my chance to give back. I am looking forward to sharing my ideas and promoting the ideas of other young naturalists in our wonderful county – working together to forge a Wilder Essex.

Hi, I'm Harriet, I'm 11 and have just started secondary school.  It was such a privilege to be asked to be a Junior Ambassador for Essex Wildlife Trust. I'm very excited to support the Trust and make a difference for wildlife in Essex.

I've grown up going to forest school with my friend Mia at Abbotts Hall Farm and Tiptree Heath, during school holidays. We loved the freedom to explore nature outside. Making dens and climbing trees were our favourite things, and still are.

During lockdown, I enjoyed making videos with my dad for Essex Wildlife Trust’s Wildlife TV. My favourite videos were creating a wildlife pond and making hedgehog houses in our garden. 

My name is Katie, and I am a super passionate wildlife conservationist, ecologist, bat women and nature nerd, from Essex! I am super excited to be an ambassador for Essex Wildlife Trust and to be able to share my enthusiasm and excitement for nature with others. I am hoping to inspire people to connect back to nature (we are all a part of it!) and to embrace and learn about all the wonderful species we have on our doorsteps here in Essex and beyond. Life is all about perspective, and If I can make even a small difference helping others to take a more compassionate and inquisitive view on nature in our county, then that’s a win for team wild across the country!
